Woman found OK just south of casino

Woman found OK just south of casino

A woman left behind by a group of illegal entrants she was traveling with Tuesday was found just south of Casino del Sol later that evening, an official said Thursday.

The woman was treated by Border Patrol Search Trauma and Rescue agents in the desert but did not need any further medical attention and was taken into custody, said Agent Sean King, a Tucson Sector Border Patrol spokesman.

Agents began searching for the woman around 2:30 p.m. after a man from the group told workers in the area to call for help, an official said at the time.

The man had stayed behind with the woman after she began to slow down, but the rest of the party continued without them.

When the woman could no longer walk, the man carried her, but he later left her in the desert to find help.

He found a work crew in the area of West Valencia Road near Casino del Sol and asked for help. Border Patrol agents arrived and backtracked from that location, eventually finding the woman, King said.
